BIOGRAPHY
Mireia is a movement artist from Catalonia,Spain, currently based in the Netherlands. She defines herself as a highly sensitive artist with a profound curiosity for researching, embodying, and learning various roles within the dance and art fields. She graduated from the Dance Artist program at ArtEZ in 2023.
As a maker, Mireia’s practice is driven by a desire to make art more inclusive. Since 2021, she has been working on optimizing dance experiences for blind users. She hosted and performed at the event “Getting Moved by Moving (with) People” presented at AMARE, in association with Stichting KUBES. She was selected by the INNOVATE Community to share her research outcomes at the INNOVATE Experience Musis (Arnhem) and performed at the event Dans Voor Iedereen at Cultura Nova in association with VIAZUID. Currently, she continues collaborating with VIAZUID and Sally, leading a residency focused on creating an immersive interactive performance for blind users, as part of Danslab 2024. Mireia considers the audience an essential element in the creative process. She has created interactive site-specific performances such as “Have a Seat” (winner of the Café Theater Festival Audience Prize 2022) and “The Moving Ground,” her latest creation together with Mariona Vinyés, which is currently touring in Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands.
As a dancer, she has worked with Sally Dansgezelschap Maastricht, Stichting LIBI under Ryan Djojokaso, Danstheater Aya, David Feenstra (Magnezy Dance Productions), and Laura Dalemans (“VIER x VIER” Theater a/d Rijn).
